About the licensed version
Installed Version: After
purchasing,
you are sent a two part permanent unlock code by email
from our sales department.
Download and install the trial version from this
website, then start it using 'Run as administrator'
(Windows 11, 10, 8.x, 7). Press Enter
Key, then enter the two part unlock code in the two
indicated fields and press OK. It will validate the
entries and acknowledge the code. You do not have to use
'Run as administrator' again.
USB
Version: You will either be sent a physical USB
Flash Drive or you will work with our tech support to
install the software package on your own USB drive. The
software is tied to the USB flash drive. You will start
the software, then you will be asked to accept the
license agreement and enter your name and company name.
There is no trial for the portable USB version, please
evaluate the installed version 30 day trial.
How many computers/VMs can I install a licensed installed version on?
Two - a desktop and laptop as long as you are the
primary user of both.

Applications Software--REGISTERED
VERSION. You may install and use one copy of the
SOFTWARE PRODUCT on a single computer. The primary user
of the computer on which the SOFTWARE PRODUCT is
installed may make a second copy for his or her
exclusive use on a portable computer.
Is the software tied to a physical or VM computer?
Installed Version: The Managed
Switch Port Mapping Tool software is not tied to the
hardware of a machine, so if it needs to be moved to a
new computer, the end-user simply uninstalls from the
old machine and reinstalls a new trial copy on the new
machine, then enters the unlock code info assigned to
them.
USB Version: The software
is not tied to a computer because the software runs from
the USB flash drive and may be moved at will between
Windows computers. However, the software is tied to the
specific USB flash drive - you will need our assistance
to move it to another drive should the need arise.
How are upgrades handled? (ie. is there a maintenance plan?)
There is no maintenance plan for the Managed Switch
Port Mapping Tool. The NetScanTools Pro Maintenance Plan
does not cover upgrades to the Managed Switch Port
Mapping Tool - they are separate applications sold
separately.
The Managed Switch Port Mapping Tool license
may be used indefinitely, however, changes in Windows
operating systems and switch firmware are not in our
control and may preclude an
extremely long use.
All version 2.x minor upgrades to the
Managed Switch Port Mapping Tool are FREE to download
from SwitchPortMapper.com. To upgrade, the end user simply installs
the latest trial version over the top of the current
version. The USB version users download a special patch
that
upgrades the USB version to the latest version. When we
reach v3.0, there will be an upgrade fee similar to the v1
to v2 upgrade fee.
Major Version Upgrade Fee: when we
went from version 1.x to version 2.0 in November 2012,
it was over 7 years since the initial release of 1.0. The single quantity v1.x to v2.x upgrade fee per
license is $95. You may upgrade a number of v1.x
licenses to an equal number of v2.x licenses.
