How to reinstall or move a licensed installed version

Procedure:

  1. Download the latest version (click here to go to the download page).
  2. Install it on the computer you want to use it on.
  3. Start the software using right click 'Run as administrator', you should see the purchase reminder. Enter the unlock code (name and code) you were given in the Permanent Unlock Code email message sent from SwitchPortMapper.com. You may not see reminder if you are reinstalling on the same computer - it will automatically pick up the licensing information if the hard drive has not been reimaged.
  4. If you have moved the software to a new computer, please uninstall from the old computer in order to remain within the licensing terms - but do this only after moving the databases as outlined below.

How to move the databases from an old computer to a new computer.

Old computer:

  1. Start the switch port mapper.
  2. Click on Database Maintenance (lower left panel), then click on Export Switch, Device settings, Switch Lists button.
  3. Save SNMPDevicesAndSwitchGroupExport.db3 to a transfer medium such as a USB flash drive.

New computer:

  1. Start the switch port mapper.
  2. Click on Database Maintenance, then click on Import Switch, Device settings, Switch Lists button.
  3. Open the SNMPDevicesAndSwitchGroupExport.db3 from the transfer medium and it will import the settings.

Transferring the History Database.

  1. Start the switch port mapper on the old computer.
  2. Click on Database Maintenance, then on the Open Folder button.
  3. Your file management utility will open - leave it open and exit the switch port mapper.
  4. Copy history.db3 to the transfer media.
  5. On the new computer repeat steps 1-3 above and replace the history.db3 file on the new computer.
  6. Start the switch port mapper again. Use left panel/Review History to verify the history has been moved.
